Emergency Info

Please note that if a fault occurs in any appliance or equipment within the property you occupy it must be reported direct to the office of Charles White Ltd (telephone no. 0131 447 8191 or 0141 331 2426) who will then arrange for a tradesman to call and inspect the item. On no account should you arrange for repairs to be carried out yourself.

However should an emergency arise out of office hours (Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 9.00am to 4.30pm) then the following tradesmen can be contacted:

Please note that the tradesmen charge double at weekends and holidays so please be absolutely sure that there really is an emergency before calling them out. Emergency repairs would include: -

  • No heating or hot water between 1 October and 31 March only or at any time of year if there is a vulnerable person in the property – a young baby or someone who is elderly or disabled
  • If you think you smell gas or your heating system is giving off fumes – call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999
  • No cold water (but check with neighbours to see if it affects other homes and if so contact Scottish Water on 0845 6018855)
  • A burst or leak that at least fills a household bucket overnight or that is affecting the electrics (if the leak is from another property speak to the owner/occupier of that property who must arrange the repair)
  • Complete or part power failure in the property (but check with neighbours to see if it affects other homes and if so contact Scottish Power on 0845 2727999)
  • Electrical fitting smoking or scorching
  • Leaking soil pipe or blocked drain with sewerage coming up
  • Blocked toilet – but only if there is not another toilet in the property
  • Rain coming in through the roof
  • Lock broken, door broken or window broken – but only if it makes the property insecure (the tenant may have to pay for this repair where it is the result of tenant negligence or damage)
  • Repairs to appliances are not classed as an emergency - please wait until the office is open to report these faults
